About Shukla

Throughout Dr. Shukla’s clinical training, his focus has been on minimally invasive therapies for a wide variety of disease processes, including a strong concentration on interventional oncology (Y90, TACE, ablation) and portal hypertension (TIPS/BRTO/BATO). Dr. Shukla’s robust experience includes direct interactions with a multidisciplinary liver tumor board at one of the nation’s largest liver transplant centers. Dr. Shukla is trained in the management of pulmonary/venous thromboembolic disease and he has worked with a multidisciplinary Pulmonary Embolism Response Team. Dr. Shukla also has considerable experience and interest in women’s health (UFE/pelvic congestion) and men’s health/interventional urology (PAE and varicocele embolization). His vast exposure to peripheral vascular interventions stems from a strong collaboration between interventional radiology and vascular surgery during his extensive training. Dr. Shukla has performed many arterial therapies via a trans-radial approach. He has also had the unique opportunity to run an inpatient clinical service as well as see consultations/follow-up during office hours, which he continues to do in his current practice.

Dr. Shukla’s current research is focused on the field of men’s health/interventional urology. He is involved with a phase II/III clinical trial to evaluate technologies for prostate cancer detection and therapy. Furthermore, since the FDA approval of PAE for the treatment of BPH, he is interested in reporting the outcomes of his institutional experience given the significant increase in the volume of referrals. Dr. Shukla’s previous research has focused on minimally invasive non-surgical therapies for specific clinical problems, such as MILLER banding as a treatment option for dialysis-associated steal syndrome and CT angiography prior to mesenteric angiography in patients with lower GI bleeding. Dr. Shukla has co-authored over 30 peer-reviewed manuscripts including retrospective reviews, literature reviews, and case reports.
